Villas in Greece

The old Villamania archive repeatedly returned to Corfu and Crete, and that points to the right way to search Greece: choose the island and its character before comparing individual houses. A compact green Ionian island creates a very different holiday from a much larger island where exploring by car becomes part of the trip.

For some travellers, a quiet bay and a local taverna are enough. Others need historic towns, larger beaches and the freedom to make long day trips.

A Greek villa is often at its best outside: terraces, shaded dining areas, pools, gardens and long views towards the sea. For families or groups, that shared outdoor space can matter more than formal interior luxury.

This is also why location needs to be understood carefully. A panoramic villa above the coast may be wonderfully private but require a car; a house closer to a village can trade some seclusion for easier access to restaurants and the water.

One of the most durable ideas in the legacy texts is freedom from the hotel timetable. In Greece that can mean breakfast on your own terrace, shopping locally, taking a boat for the day and returning to a house where the group can stay together without losing privacy.

We keep that idea, while discarding the old claims about guaranteed savings, fixed prices and comparisons that no longer belong on a modern site.
